It's expensive to be a stoner in Norway

The interesting thing about this story is that after paying the $715 fine, apparently the matter is over and done with. So, in a sense, it's just a (albeit very expensive) tax on smoking weed, like parking tickets are a tax on parking in desirable places. Of course, who knows what the penalty is for a second or third offense--presumably at some point you get sent to jail, even in a socialist paradise like Norway.

Winehouse, her husband Blake Fielder-Civil and a third person were released at around 7:00 a.m. today after paying $715 in fines, Prosecutor Lars Morten Lothe said.
