Rolling Stone : U2's Next Album Is "Making Itself," Says Daniel Lanois
"We've been invited as writers this time," he says. "I did three writing sessions with Eno and U2 -- one in Fez, Morocco; two in France. It's going great. We're regrouping in November." He adds that "the record's kind of making itself."Is that a good thing? Great U2 albums usually come out of a struggle, like The Joshua Tree or Achtung, Baby! On the other hand, Pop was sort of a death march, too, and it ended up being the Irish quartet's most mediocre effort. And Zooropa, which U2 tossed off between legs of the never-ending Achtung, Baby! tour, is an under-rated gem.
