Radiohead shock-release seventh album through website | News | NME.COM
No word on whether Amazon will be supporting this "donation-ware" pricing for "In Rainbows."
As if that news wasn't a big enough bombshell, the band have not set a price for the download version of the album, leaving the 'price' field blank and letting the customer decide how much to pay for the release.Radiohead just allowed their albums to be released on legal download sites for the first time, but only on ones that restrict customers to albums only, not individual tracks. Like other artists like Led Zeppelin (though apparently that policy will change come this November and the release of their new collection "Mothership") and AC/DC, they oppose allowing fans to cherry-pick individual tracks from their albums.

I love this. Radiohead is downplaying the significance of their donation-ware idea but it will be very interesting to see how much they pull in from their fans. I plan to buy the album for the bargain price of $10.
