Pitchfork reports on the new Neil Young album, or reports on Billboard reporting on it. So this blog entry is third hand (at least.)
I'm kind of psyched for this album. Neil Young hasn't really done a tripply/stony/jammy kind of album in a while--"Greendale" had some long songs, but it was mainly about narrative. You'd have to go all the way back to 1996's "Broken Arrow" for anything truly bong-worthy.
Tour dates were also announced, both before and after the previously announced Bridge School Benefit dates.
It's got one song, "Ordinary People", that stretches out over 18 minutes, and another, "No Hidden Path", that's over 11 minutes. As if that wasn't likely to be trippy enough, Billboard also reports that "the album will also be available with a bonus DVD featuring 'super-saturated' high-resolution audio and a moving video image."
