Farrell Invites Listeners To His Satellite Party
Back in the late 80s/early90s, Perry Farrell put out two excellent albums with his band Jane's Addiction, "Nothing's Shocking" and "Ritual De Lo Habitual" that basically wrote the book for 90s alternative rock.
He's been dining out on them ever since. Two Porno For Pyros albums, a Jane's Addiction reunion, a solo effort whose title I can't even remember--none of have come even close to capturing that old Jane's magic. His latest attempt is a project called Satellite. Warning, major hooptie alert in the following quote:
"There's a story attached to the music," he told Billboard.com. "This group of people, who call themselves the Solutionists, try to create a myth. It's the idea of, by putting together their own parties and their own media hub on the Internet, they begin to redesign and come up with solutions for the world."
I'm as skeptical about this as I am about the Smashing Pumpkins reunion.
PS. Can anyone name the band and song that this entry's title refers to?
